We can inherit a lot of things from our parents and immediate family. Their hair, smile, beloved family treasures, or pesky bad habits.

Being that we are really into beauty and skincare around here, however, I wanted to share how much genes actually impact the aging process. How likely are we to inherit Aunt Rita’s smooth porcelain skin or Aunt Sally’s deep frown lines?

Well, it turns out that a whopping 80% of how you age is in your own control. That’s right…the answer is false. Genes are only 20% responsible for how we age.

You, not Mother Nature, are in the driver’s seat when it comes to how gracefully (or not so gracefully) you age as years go by.

Are you surprised? I was! We’re not alone. A survey of 600+ females uncovered that women feel genes are half responsible for how they age.

So we’re in more control than we think. In my next post, we’ll take a look at why and how we can make the most of the 80% in our control. You don’t want to miss these tips! Make sure you subscribe to my RSS feed or bookmark this page so you don’t miss a post!
