Thanks to CABLE for featuring me this month!

Happy November, friends! I’m coming upon my 4th year as a CABLE member and I’m excited to share that they’ve chosen me as their November member of the month! Here is the interview they shared with our membership:

What are the greatest challenges and the greatest rewards of your career?

The challenge is all of the untapped opportunity! There are so many people looking for what we offer that it can be overwhelming to know where to start sometimes. That’s why I start each month, week and day with a game plan – adjusting my consistent daily activity with my goals, as necessary. The greatest reward to my career is helping team members recapture life goals and dreams and then playing a role in helping them achieve them.

Your LinkedIn profile states that you have a recession-proof business. What does that mean to you?

There are really two facets to my business that make it recession-proof. First, I’m in the health/wellness/beauty industry. Studies have shown that hair care, cosmetics and skincare companies are typically resilient in a down economy. During the Depression, for example, a woman would buy a lipstick when she couldn’t afford a new dress.

More recently, from 2010 to 2011, while other companies were downsizing, ours grew significantly. In addition, we are focused on the $2.5 billion (and growing) anti-aging market, so there’s quite a sea of growth opportunity.

The second component that makes my business recession-proof is the fact that I’m self-employed. No one can fire me or eliminate my position. I focus on working smart, rather than trading time for a set amount of dollars. I own my own time and am in control of my paycheck. I feel so blessed to love my career and do something that rarely feels like work.

What do you love most about being a CABLE member?

There are many things I love about CABLE. However, if I had to narrow it down to a few, I would say I love the multitude of networking opportunities, and I also really like the ability to send and receive the different types of “zaps.”

What is something that CABLE members would be surprised to learn about you?

I was a gold medal powerlifter in high school.
