My story
The short story
I’m under 30 years old. I’m the owner of a virtual franchise in partnership with a young network marketing company. I have no prior business training or experience. Due to my passion and drive for helping others, this network marketing business allowed me to leave my corporate employer by choice. I now have the time freedom and flexibility to work when I want, where I want and with whom I want. We are building a legacy that will impact our community in a number of ways and last for generations. If this sounds desirable to you, let’s have a conversation. The worst thing that could happen is you’ll spend 15 minutes chatting with a friend. The best thing? Living life on your own terms as you write your success story with two of the most recognized billionaires in the world.
The full story
As much as I love storytelling, for now I’m going to skip over the details of my amazing family, friends, childhood and teenage years. We’ll save those for chatting over coffee or connecting via Skype.
When I graduated from Belmont University with my Bachelor of Science in Public Relations, I had no clue what I wanted from my career. Would I stay in Nashville? Would I work in a local corporation’s PR Department? Would I become one of many account executives at a local PR firm? My immediate need was finding a reliable job (hopefully using my PR skills) so I could repay the ever-accruing student loan that was looming overhead.
My first job
Within a month of graduation, I was offered a full-time PR role with a growing local company. This was an incredible opportunity to launch and build their PR, new media and communications processes. I was stoked. They had an amazing story and the sky was the limit. Thanks to their management team and executive leadership, I helped them earn awards and enviable media coverage with local and national media outlets. My PR skills and abilities were stretched and new ones were acquired too.
About 6 months into my work with them, they hired a new team member. Just a few months after that, we started dating. Two years later, we were engaged. You can read all about our love story at Becoming Mrs. Dial.
Layoffs and new ventures
About 2 weeks after he proposed (and I said yes), we realized the economy was catching up with our company and watched as they laid off a handful of employees. As the reality of marriage and the possibility of one or both of us losing our jobs seemed to be dangling in our not-so-distant future, I made the decision to start recruiting freelance PR work. Thus, Dial Krista Media was born.
How direct sales came into my life
One morning, I attended a Chamber of Commerce networking event and had the pleasure of striking up a conversation with a gal over coffee and bagels. After hearing about how the doctors who created Proactiv were paying her (rather than spokesmodels or celebrities) to help them market their new line of dermatology products, I was intrigued and wanted to learn more.
As someone who was…
- dealing with horrible skin and was getting ready to spend a significant amount of money on wedding photos,
- choosing my wedding dress based on what would cover my back (due to acne),
- looking for additional sources of income…
What she shared seemed to be a perfect fit. I jumped into what was being offered and have never looked back.
Making decisions
As my direct sales business was growing, I realized I was at a crossroads. Would I continue to work for someone else, make money for someone else and further someone else’s dreams, all the while being paid the same salary and only give a few hours a week to my growing business? Or would I embrace my journey, prioritize my goals and choose to follow what I was being called towards?
Empowerment
After two years of running my virtual franchise very part-time (and one year of being married to my best friend), I’m happy to share that not only has this company allowed me to go makeup-free, it has also allowed me to create my own career path and work with who I want, when I want and where I want. Plus, our family’s financial future has never been brighter.
An invitation to find your freedom
If you don’t make your own goals and set your own vision, someone else will do it for you. Someone will hire you and pay you what they think you’re worth. The truth is, you’re worth more and you deserve more, but it’s up to you to to realize that. I invite you to reflect. Where do you want to be in 5 years? How often do you want to go on vacation? How much time will you spend with your kids or spouse? Wherever you’ve been and whoever you are, it’s time to reveal your authentic self, embrace the person you want to become and take action to seize the life you deserve to live.
Revealing you, revealing me…
Many of us hide who we are, neglect our dreams, tell ourselves that we’re not good enough. That’s what I did for nearly 5 years. Life is too short to live that way, so I made a change. If my story sounds like yours, if you feel “stuck”, if you want to be a part of something larger or if you simply love helping others, let’s talk. We’re all on this journey together. I’d be honored to share a conversation with you and play a role in helping you get where you want to go. Click here to contact me.
