Is it time to create your exit strategy?

If you’ve visited this blog before, perhaps you know my story. When I quit my job to focus on my direct selling business, some people, even very close friends, looked at me like I was crazy. And while many people are clinging to their jobs, though they’re desperately bored or unfulfilled, I recently stumbled upon a Chicago Tribune article that offers some interesting statistics that reveal I’m not alone in my quest for more freedom and life balance. In fact, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, resignations rose steadily in 2011.
It seems that more and more people are realizing there are other career paths beyond the typical 9 to 5. Even in a down economy, home-based businesses are flourishing…because in times of uncertainty, we look for other ways to stimulate our own personal economies. We see it’s difficult to rely on employers, so we start to look to ourselves for new, creative ways to generate income.
Branching out on your own isn’t any more risky than working for a company. In fact, I started my direct sales directly along side my corporate career, making certain to not allow one to interfere with the other. After spending 1.5 years working my direct selling business part-time, I was able to replace my corporate salary and now am blessed to enjoy a full-time career working my business on my own terms…watching my paycheck grow bigger from month to month.
If you’re looking for a change, consider exploring the many home-based business opportunities out there. Do your research and make sure it’s a reputable brand with a product in demand. I recommend starting your research with the DSA (Direct Selling Association). They are the industry watch-dog for direct sales companies and offer a thorough list of well-established brands. Clearly, I’m partial to my business, since it’s the company that’s changed my life and has allowed me to help others do the same.
Whatever you’re looking for…seek and ye shall find. Life is too short to be standing on the sidelines. I’d love to hear how I can help you get to where you want to go. Contact me and let’s have a conversation. I can hardly wait to chat with you!
